On Monday, February 20th, 2017 Macdonald Drive Junior High will be closing one hour early. Teachers will be completing a Strategic Planning Session required by the School District. All students will be dismissed at 1:10 pm and buses will be available at that time.

The MDJH delegation, composed of Muslim students and members of the Student Council, just before departure for the Human Shield demonstration at the Masjid-an-Noor mosque on Friday, February 3, 2017, in support of the Muslim community.

Congratulations to the Grade 9 Girls Volleyball Teams, who completed in the Provincial Tournament in Clarenville this past weekend.
Team Bennett won Silver in Tier 1, and Team Way won Silver in Tier 3.

The Grade 9 parent orientation meeting will take place at Gonzaga High School on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:00 pm.
Cupcakes for Pink Day
On Wednesday, February 22nd the students and staff of Macdonald Drive Junior High will be celebrating Pink Day, a national day recognizing Bullying Awareness with the message that Bullying Stops Here! This day originated in Nova Scotia when a group of boys noticed a new grade 9 student being bullied for wearing pink. To show their support of the new student they, along with several other male students, arrived at school the next day wearing pink shirts. To promote the anti-bullying theme of Pink Day, students at Macdonald Drive Junior High will be offered pink cupcakes on February 22nd when they wear an article of pink clothing to school that day.
This endeavor has been very successful in the last few years due to the tremendous support of our students and parents.
Once again this year we are requesting parental donations of pink, iced cupcakes for Wednesday, February 22nd . If you are able to help us in this endeavor please email Ms.Jackie Taylor-Myles at jacquelinetaylormyles@nlesd.ca or Ms. Tracy Reardon at tracyreardon@nlesd.ca or contact the school at 753-8240.
Cupcakes should be delivered to the office by 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Please remember that this is a nut-free environment.
