Expression of Interest – MDJH Cricket Team
A message to the MDJH school community from a parent interested in organizing a MDJH Cricket Team for Grade 7 Boys and Girls:
My name is Arif Shaikh. I am a parent of Grade 7 student and would like to introduce the game of Cricket for Grades 7 boys and girls at Macdonald Drive Junior High School. Cricket is a very widely played sport in many countries and is gaining popularity in Canada too. I am a member of Cricket NL which is the official body that organizes cricket league in St John’s and have represented NL in Eastern Atlantic Cricket Tournaments. I invite new members to participate in learning this sport. The gym at the school is available to us on Mondays from 02:30 pm to 04:00 pm.
We will practice batting, bowling and fielding activities during our sessions. We will also have brief sessions to introduce the fundamental rules of the game. Students who would like to play only need a pair of gym shoes. No experience with the sport is necessary as we will begin with basics. The purpose is to have fun while developing Cricket skills, I also intend to develop a team that would play matches with teams from other schools and participate in interschool tournaments in future.
In order to gauge interest and to get a sense of numbers beforehand, I would appreciate if you could email me if your child is interested in playing. Please respond to arifkfupm@yahoo.com. I would like to begin the sessions on Monday, October 8 but the registration is open until October 19, 2018.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions in the meantime.

Bus Route Changes – October 3rd
Sometimes it can be a challenge getting to the bus on time at the end of the day. To help with this, the buses will be leaving the school parking lot five minutes later – at 2:20 pm. This will hopefully give students time to get everything they need from their lockers without having to run in the halls or out the doors.
This change will apply to all of the buses at MDJH, and takes effect on Wednesday, October 3rd.
For more information on bus routes and times, please visit our Bus page.
