WE Day Connect – A Great Event!

There was a great turnout at MDJH for the WE Day Connect live event, and the students were represented by Daniel Blackmore, Silvi Ivardi and Maria Keough. Thanks go out to all the students who filled the seats in the gym, and to the organizers here at MDJH and at WE.

Special thanks go out to TELUS, who donated $1500.00 to MDJH to help with our student empowerment and anti-bullying initiatives!

MDJH 50/50 Fundraiser

We are now rolling out our first fundraiser for the school year. It is a 50/50 draw for Christmas Cash! The maximum Grand Prize could be a whopping $10,000.00! Tickets are $2.00 each, and the winner will be drawn on December 19, 2018.

As an incentive for ticket sales, we are offering a top seller’s prize which will be a $200.00 gift card for Best Buy. To encourage early submission of tickets we will also be drawing weekly prizes. These prizes were graciously donated by the food establishments in our local area. Finally, there will be ice cream treats for the top selling class. Each student will be given a booklet of 10 tickets. If you need extras, just let us know.

All proceeds will be used for new educational technology for our students. If you would like to make a monetary donation in lieu of selling tickets, that would be warmly welcomed. The ticket sale deadline is December 14, 2018 , so please return any unsold tickets by then.

We want to thank you for your help with this fundraiser and, as always, for your wonderful support.

Report Cards / Parent-Teacher Interviews

Report Cards will be issued to students on Friday, November 30th at the end of the school day. If a student will not be in school on that day, their card can be collected from the office after this time.

Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held on Thursday, December 6th from 12:30 to 6:30 pm. Students will be dismissed at the start of the regular lunch period (11:21 am), and there will be regular busing at that time.

To arrange for an interview, parents/guardians are asked to refer to the OPTIS document (please click here to view a copy) for instructions. The OPTIS system will be open from 3:00 pm on Friday until 9:00 am Thursday morning. Once OPTIS is closed, please contact individual teachers to arrange for an interview.

To go to the OPTIS site, please click here, or click on the OPTIS icon on the left sidebar.

Please note that Friday, December 7th is a Professional Development Day for teachers. There will be no classes for students on that day.

Book Fair Next Week!

Our 2018 Book Fair launches next week in the Library. Pop by to check out the latest offerings from Scholastic! It is a great time to pick up some Christmas gifts! Want to buy a book for a favourite teacher’s classroom library? Gift lists will be available!

The Book Fair will be open recess and lunch next week for students to come by and see what we have for sale. As well, every homeroom will get a chance to visit (see the schedule below). The book fair will also be open on Thursday, December 6, during Parent-Teacher Interviews.

We are still looking for a couple of last minute volunteers if you have any time to spare next week. For more information, please contact bethpower@nlesd.ca.
