WE Are Silent – November 20th
If you could help a group of impoverished kids get an education, would you? Our global campaign as a WE School this year is WE Are Silent, an initiative about raising awareness for children whose voices are unheard.
On Tuesday, November 20th, MDJH will go silent for 20 minutes, We are asking for a donation of $2.00 or more from each student to support education in Sierra Leone, a country in West Africa with one of the worst education systems in the world. As a fundraising goal, we’s like to raise $1000.00 to outfit a whole classroom. As a bonus, if we raise $1000.00, student council President Daniel B. and the entire student council will be silent for an entire day of November 21st. Help us out and donate!
Student council will have a table set up this week at lunch times for all students to sign pledges to be silent. Stop by and sign a pledge!

WE Day Connect Event
Our school has been selected by the WE organization to participate in a WE Day Connect event focusing on cyberbullying on Thursday, November 29, in our gym from 1:30-5pm. The live show ends at 4pm but there will be a post-session.
The event will be recorded and live-streamed from Microsoft Studios in Seattle, Washington, so hence the late time (time zones). Five schools have been selected to participate – one from each of these areas: UK, Seattle, New York, Toronto, and St. John’s. A team of WE Day producers / technicians will come to MDJH to facilitate the event.
WE Day Connect will introduce students to various exciting WE Schools projects and illustrate how they come to life. Through video content, social media, and live Skype interviews, our students will be engaged and motivated to learn about the stories behind the projects. MDJH will be the focus of one segment and two of our students will be interviewed about our work as a WE School.
Of course student attendance is optional since it is late, but we are hoping for a great turn-out. Permission slips went home with students today, but if you need another, click here to download the permission slip, and here to download the personal release form.
