Retrieval of Student Items – Change of Plans

Subject: Retrieval of Student Items – Change of Plans

Date: March 17, 2020 

Based on the most recent update from the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District is changing its plan for students and parents to retrieve personal and instructional materials from schools on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Please disregard the message sent to you outlining that plan.

Please be advised that no student or parent will be provided access to schools, effective immediately. The only exceptions will be for the retrieval of critical items, such as medical equipment or prescriptions currently housed at the school. Parents are advised to contact their school administration to arrange for the transfer of such items.

We regret the inconvenience this causes. We are, however, determined to keep staff, students, parents/guardians and school communities as safe as possible during this uncertain time. We will communicate a plan for retrieval of all non-essential items at some point in the future.  Your child’s teachers will be in communication with you by Friday March 27, 2020

Important information for our students and parents / معلومات هامة للطلاب والأهالي

To facilitate an organized approach for students to retrieve their personal belongings, school materials, and to minimize gatherings of large groups of students, the following schedule will be used:
لتسهيل التواصل المنظم من أجل الطلاب ليأخذوا أغراضهم الشخصية و لوازم المدرسة , و للتقليل من التجمعات سيتم استخدام جدول مواعيد على الشكل التالي:
Wednesday, March 18: Students whose last name begins with “A-M” attend this day only.
يوم الأربعاء March 18 : يمكن للطلاب الذين يبدأ اسمهم الأخير (الكنية) من حرف A حتى حرف M أن يأتوا إلى المدرسة لأخذ أغراضهم فقط.
Morning Session: School will open at the normal start time and buses will pick up students according to the normal morning schedule. Students will be dismissed two hours after their normal start time. Buses will return students to their regular bus stop. Parents who wish to drop their child off at the school and pick them up at the dismissal time may do so as per the surname schedule. Students who walk to school may do so during this time period as per the surname schedule.
الفترة الصباحية: المدرسة ستفتح في الوقت الاعتيادي و الباصات ستنقل الطلاب من نفس الموقف و بنفس التوقيت المعتاد عليه سابقاُ. سيكون لدى الطلاب ساعتين فقط لأخذ أغراضهم أي أن الانصراف سيكون بعد ساعتين من الوقت المعتاد.
يمكن للأهالي أن يحضروا أولادهم و يأخذوهم حسب الوقت المذكور سابقاُ . سيسمح فقط للطلاب الدخول إذا كان اسمائهم الاخيرة (الكنية) تبدأ بأحد الحروف من A حتى M
Afternoon Session: Parents/guardians who wish to pick up their child’s belongings may do so during the regular afternoon session as long as the surname is as per Wednesday’s schedule. Please note that parents will not be provided access to their child’s classroom during the morning session.
فترة بعد الظهر: الأهالي وأولياء الأمور الذين يرغبون بأخذ أغراض أولادهم بدلا عنهم يمكن يأتوا إلى المدرسة في فترة بعد الظهر( من الساعة 1 حتى نهاية دوام المدرسة المعتاد ). بشرط أن يكون الاسم الاخير (الكنية) لأولادهم تبدأ بأحد الحروف من A حتى M. من فضلكم لا يمكن للأهالي الوصول إلى صفوف أولادهم خلال الفترة الصباحية.
Thursday, March 19: Students whose last name begins with “N-Z” attend this day only.
يوم الخميس March 19 : يمكن للطلاب الذين يبدأ اسمهم الأخير (الكنية) من حرف N حتى حرف Z أن يأتوا إلى المدرسة لأخذ أغراضهم فقط.
Morning Session: School will open at the normal start time and buses will pick up students according to the normal morning schedule. Afternoon Session: Parents/guardians who wish to pick up their child’s belongings may do so during the regular afternoon session as long as the surname is as per Thursday’s schedule. Please note that parents will not be provided access to their child’s classroom during the morning session Parents are asked to go to school as per the scheduled times listed above. This will assist in the District’s efforts to support “social distancing”.
