Baseball Tryouts – Thursday, May 11

The girls baseball practice is confirmed for 3pm – 4pm today at the Techniplex in Pleasantville. Girls are reminded that they should meet in the lobby with coaches prior to entering the playing area. No drinks or food are permitted. Rubber soled cleats are allowed but no outside footwear in the field area please.

The boys practices will go ahead as scheduled today at 4pm and 5:30pm, at Wishingwell Field with the groups divided alphabetically as posted yesterday. Players who have an all-star try-out tonight with St. John’s Minor Baseball are permitted to come to the earlier practice. This is a batting practice session only and players who have to leave for all-star tryouts will hit first and leave when their hitting round is over to help with transit time.

MDJH Community Garden

Growing season has begun at MDJH! Seeds are sprouting, plants are growing and we are waiting for the sun to appear to begin work on our Community garden. And WORK it needs! We are hoping to improve things in the garden this year and so we are looking for donations to help support the addition of some raised beds – we are also looking for soil, seedlings, some more garden tools etc.

Inquiries or support can be directed to Lynne Sheppard at lynnedsheppard@nlesd.ca.

MDJH ROV Team

This past Thursday and Friday, the ROV team had a great outing at their competition over at the Marine Institute. MDJH Robotics, or ORCA as they are known (which stands for Ocean Research and Coastal Applications) placed third overall in the points and first in their marketing presentation! An honourable mention of being the most ferocious in the pool was also handed out to the team – a credit to their design and likely Ethan C.’s persistent piloting skills. Mr. Sharpe and Mr. Thorne are very proud of this group’s accomplishments and are looking forward to next season.

Well done, Grizzlies!
