MDJH is looking for coaches for the grade 7 and 8 boys volleyball teams. If you are interested please contact Scott Mercer scottmercer@nlesd.ca or Donald Mackey donaldmackey@nlesd.ca.
MDJH is looking for a parent volunteer(s) to take over the Duke Program for our current Grade 9s. During these times, many of the activities have been adapted to meet current regulations around the pandemic. There are also many online options for the Adventurous Journey section.
If you or a group of Grade 9 parents were interested in continuing this tradition and take on the lead, Ms. Riggs will help guide the parent group. As with past years, there will also be teachers available for support. If you are interested, please email jenniferriggs@nlesd.ca.
Here is the revised school calendar for 2020-2021. Please note that December 18th is now the last day before the Christmas Holidays, and that March 15 (St. Patrick’s Day) has been added as a school holiday.
Now that regular bussing has been sorted out, we have started to look at courtesy seats for other students who would like a seat on busses with extra space. If you are interested in a courtesy seat on the bus for your child, please complete the Courtesy Seating Request form found on the NLESD District website.
A huge THANK YOU to all students/families who donated items to the MDJH Thanksgiving Food Drive. We collected a record 2045 food items! The competition between classes for Food Drive Donation Supremacy (and the coveted ice cream treats) was extra fierce this year. The winning classes were Ms. Kelly’s 7-1s, Mr. Sharpe’s 8-7s, Mme Parsons’s 7-9s, and Mme Quann’s 7-7s. Congratulations!
The top three students who wrangled the most donations were Elsa W., with 33 items, Salma H. with 35 items, and Ali A. who brought in a whopping 60 items! Thanks once again for all your support!
We would like to wish you all a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.
Macdonald Drive Junior High has had a long tradition of taking part in the annual Thanksgiving food drive. This year our school community felt it was important that we take part. Every student is asked to help out by bringing in a non-perishable food item. Items will be counted and the top 3 Homerooms with the most items collected will receive an ice cream prize. Food items will be accepted Wednesday and Thursday!
The Macdonald Drive Junior High Math Department is proud to present the first of this year’s Math Problem of the Week questions today. Your teachers will present them to you in homeroom, or by request, and submissions should be done electronically (that is, emailed to Mr. Shane Lambert).
Please, write your final answer to the question, your name, and your homeroom, in the body of your email submission and pass it along to Mr. Lambert by the due date located on the bottom right of the problem.
The names of participants with correct responses are entered into a draw and the winner receives a free extra value meal from McDonald’s.
