Call for Volunteers – Grade 8 Parents/Guardians

MDJH will be holding the Grade 9 Carnival on Thursday May 28, 2020 from 6:30 – 9:00 PM. All grade 9 students will be attending as it will be one of the last times to come together as the senior class of MDJH. The City of St. John’s Youth and Recreation Group are helping to organize the event.

We are currently looking for Parent Volunteers to help supervise this event. In anticipation of your son/ daughters participation next year, we thought it would be fitting for grade 8 parents to participate. If you are able to volunteer for this event please fill in the sheet below and pass it in to your son/daughter’s Homeroom teacher.

Winter Engineering Club at MUN – Starts February 8, 2020

A great way to add fun and inspiration to your child’s weekend. The group will meet for three Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm in the Engineering Building. Content geared for youth ages 12-15. This club will be offered at no charge, but spaces are limited.

Online registration will open on Monday, Feb. 3 at 12:00 noon. The registration link below will be active at that time.

IB Program Information Session

On Tuesday, February 4th, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD) will host an information session for parents/guardians of current Grade 9 students interested in learning more about the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m.at the District Conference Centre on 40 Strawberry Marsh Road in St. John’s. Families will be able to access further details on the program, ask questions of District staff, and evaluate whether the IB Program could be of benefit to their young adult. For those unable to attend in person, this session will also be live broadcast via Skype through the following link:

The IB Program is provincially sponsored by the NLESD and any student in the province may apply to attend. NLESD’s IB Program is hosted at Holy Heart of Mary High School in St. John’s and students who enroll are required to attend in person at that school.
