Celebrating Student Success – Daniel E.!

Congratulations go out to Daniel E. in Homeroom 9-2! Daniel participates in Clash of the Academics, a weekly game/competition at Lytehouse Youth (Bethesda Church). Students compete to earn points towards a championship trophy for their school, as well as bragging rights. Weekly challenges can earn special perks for teachers and staff at the student’s school. This week, Daniel was the winner, and a selection of treats was delivered to MDJH at recess today for teachers and staff.

On behalf of MDJH, thank you Daniel! It was much appreciated! And good luck with your future Clash of the Academics competitions!

Student Safety and Awareness off School Grounds

We are reaching out to you today to reemphasize and renew our communication about student safety and awareness when they are off school grounds.

The health and safety of our students is our top priority and we do everything we can to make our schools a safe environment for our students, staff, and the school community. There are challenges when students are off school grounds during lunch hour. We are acutely aware of the assaults that have occurred at Toronto Street Park and the surrounding areas during the lunch hours, and we raise this awareness with our students before they leave the school.

The safety of our students requires cooperation with all of our community partners. We have engaged with local police and asked them to monitor the area during the lunch hour. Police have been responsive and patrol the area, but are sometimes called away to attend to other matters which require their attention. As parents and guardians we ask that you talk to your child or children about safety awareness when off school grounds and to be aware of the recent incidents.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
