A huge thank you for your generous donations for Jamarama Day! The school collected $874.50 for children at the Janeway!

MDJH will be having tryouts for a Dance Team. \
This team is open to all students with the first tryout taking place on Monday, November 1st from 2:30-3:30pm in the cafeteria.
A couple of items to share with you this week.
Memorial Engineering Outreach is excited to be working with Actua (https://www.actua.ca/en/) to deliver a Cyber Smart Program – this program focuses on teaching youth about cyber safety, cyber security and digital citizenship. The activities have been designed to empower youth with the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to be responsible digital users and creators.
Participants will engage with discussion and activities on various Cyber Smart topics, including digital citizenship, online etiquette, bias, fake news, privacy, strong passwords, encryption, cyber scams and more! Participants will leave with a stronger cyber security awareness and new cyber safety skills to help them feel empowered to be responsible digital users and creators.
Our first pilot is being offered to girls in grades 8-10, and will take place here in the S.J. Carew building on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:00. The first session will be on November 2 and the last session will be November 30.

Five future leaders from MDJH, under the guidance of Mme. Quann, are attending the on-going Canadian Student Leadership Conference (CSLC 2021). Although this is a virtual conference this year, they are having a great time and attending sessions with students from all across the country.
The keynote speaker for this conference was hockey commentator Harnarayan Singh.

Jamarama is Friday, October 22nd! Students and staff are encouraged to wear pajamas to school in support of the Janeway. Wearing pajamas is a sign of solidarity and support for the brave kids at the Janeway Hospital who don’t get to change out of their PJs. It lets them know that we are thinking of them and are fighting for them.

MDJH Breakfast Program is up and running! We are still in need of Parent Volunteers. Please contact Ms.Riggs at the school if you can volunteer one morning a week. We really need and appreciate your support!
Grade 9 Boys “B” Basketball Tryouts
The Sr Girls soccer game scheduled for Sunday, October 17th 4:30pm at KGV is changed to 6:00pm at Smallwood Field.
