PD Day – Monday, March 9th

A reminder that Monday, March 9th is a Professional Development Day for MDJH. There will be no classes for students on that day.

Schools will also be closed on Monday, March 16th for St. Patrick’s Day.

MDJH CALMing Room

For students looking for a place to de-stress at lunch, Ms. Pickett has opened up her room as a CALMing space. Low lighting and music, and a place to gather and quietly chat. So far, it’s a hit!

Eastern Health’s new Health Information (HI) Website

Earlier this Fall, Eastern Health launched its brand new website – Health Information, known as “Hi”. The Hi website is the go-to place for health and wellness resources for individuals, families, and communities.

LEARN Students at Pippy Park

Last week there was an awesome day at Pippy Park with the MDJH LEARN class. This is the first time skiing and snowshoeing for many of these students! They learn fast!!

Junior High Math League

On Wednesday past, our mathletes competed in the “Spring” junior high math league competition. There were 88 students registered, making up about 24 teams. MDJH placed first AND second in the competition!

Members of the first place team were Gianne Kim, Elena Velichkova, and Joohyeok Seo.

The second place team included Farah Farah, Dipayan Dhar, Megna Saha and Orpa Hawlader.

Way to go!

Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Tanish and Raina, MDJH’s top spellers for 2020. They competed at the Telegram Spelling Bee this past weekend at the Holy Heart Theatre.

Mini-Enrichment Courses!

Mini-enrichment courses are coming up! These one or two day courses are offered to students in Grades 7 to 9 to provide opportunities outside the regular classroom. To see what courses are available, please click here for the course catalogue.

Applications are available at the main office, or you can download a copy by clicking here.

Please note that applications are due in to the MDJH office no later than March 11, and there is a $45 application fee.

Once students have submitted an application they will receive a Letter of Acceptance or a Letter of Not Placed.

If you do not receive notification by April 1, 2020 please contact the office to enquire as to the status of the application.

The Course Waiver must be signed and brought with your child on the first day of the course along with their Acceptance Letter. The school will distribute Letter of Acceptance and the MUN Waiver form.
