As you may have heard, there was a devastating fire at the Community Food Sharing Association warehouse yesterday. The food supply has been entirely destroyed. Because we care so much at Macdonald Drive Junior High, we would like to help! Tomorrow, students are asked to bring non-perishable food items to school. We will make sure it goes toward re-stocking the shelves and supporting families in need across Newfoundland and Labrador.
For those who may wish to lend more support, there will be a food drive on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. during the Irish Newfoundland Show on VOCM. The public can make donations in person at Coleman’s Food Centres on Newfoundland Drive in St. John’s and Centennial Street in Mount Pearl. Monetary donations can be made to VOCM Cares online.
Thank you for your continued support!

On Wednesday, February 27th we have our annual Pink Shirt Day. This day is celebrated every year with a strong message to be kind to one another and to celebrate diversity. We are asking parents/guardians to bake pink cupcakes, as we will be providing a pink cupcake to each student in our building on that day. If you are able to bake cupcakes please send an email to Christina Watton and indicate the number of cupcakes you can provide (please keep in mind we are a nut and tree nut free school). You can title the email “Pink Day cupcakes”. All cupcakes would have to be delivered by 8am on Wednesday, February 27th!
