We are reaching out to you today to reemphasize and renew our communication about student safety and awareness when they are off school grounds.
The health and safety of our students is our top priority and we do everything we can to make our schools a safe environment for our students, staff, and the school community. There are challenges when students are off school grounds during lunch hour. We are acutely aware of the assaults that have occurred at Toronto Street Park and the surrounding areas during the lunch hours, and we raise this awareness with our students before they leave the school.
The safety of our students requires cooperation with all of our community partners. We have engaged with local police and asked them to monitor the area during the lunch hour. Police have been responsive and patrol the area, but are sometimes called away to attend to other matters which require their attention. As parents and guardians we ask that you talk to your child or children about safety awareness when off school grounds and to be aware of the recent incidents.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The Grade 9 Girls Volleyball Team is looking for a coach for this current school year. If you are interested in coaching this team, please reach out to darryledwards@nlschools.ca or donaldmackey@nlschools.ca.

This six week workshop provides a wildly creative space where girls can ignite their confidence, creativity and critical thinking skills. Each session will include activities geared toward giving girls more tools to love themselves. Sessions will encourage girls to take a critical look at how they are portrayed in the media, and to challenge/re-route the messages into a creative display of their ambitions, strengths and skills. In these sessions, girls will engage in confidence-building games and soul-igniting creative arts in a peer-supported setting.
