Family Development Survey
School Development Surveys are conducted annually to gather feedback from students, staff, and parents/guardians to inform the school development process. The survey results will be provided to your child’s school and used with other data to identify the school’s strengths and challenges. Your child’s school will then create and implement a plan to build on successes and address areas of challenge.
The survey is anonymous, which means that we cannot connect your survey responses to you. We encourage everyone to participate so that we have the most accurate representation of family perceptions at your school.
The Family Survey will be available on February 14th, 2022. Please complete the survey by March 25th, 2022 by clicking on the following link: https://www.research.net/r/SDFAMILY2122EN. If you do not have internet access contact your school.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the school development surveys, please contact:
Allan Johnson at 709-729-7831 or allanjohnson@gov.nl.ca or
Patricia Emberley at 709-729-6850 or patriciaemberley@gov.nl.ca
Thank you for your participation and for being a valued member of your school community.

MDJH Updates
- PL Day Monday, February 14
There will be no school for students on Monday, February 14. School will reopen for students on Tuesday, February 15, and it will be Day 7. - Kenny’s Pond
We had our first incident this winter with students attempting to walk on the ice at Kenny’s Pond. Local residents called the school, and the Fire Department was notified. Please take time to speak to your child about how unsafe this action is. - Staff Appreciation Week
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is February 14-18. Our student council would like to ask our school community to show appreciation for the staff of MDJH by providing treats at lunch. As in past years, we would like to have grade levels provide individually packaged and school safe treats on different days.- Tuesday, February 15 – Grade 7
- Wednesday, February 16 – Grade 8
- Thursday, February 17 – Grade 9.
- The school council is coordinating a pizza lunch for staff for Monday, February 14, which is our PL day.
- If you are able to send along a treat, or if you prefer to give a monetary donation to contribute to the pizza lunch or to the treats, please send it to the attention of Colette Quann colettequann@nlesd.ca. Monetary donations can be sent to the office with Staff Appreciation Week clearly labelled.
