Science Fair Judges Needed
WANTED: Science Fair Judges
The MDJH School Science Fair will take place Thursday, March 17th, 2016 from 1:30 – 5:30 pm.
Science students have been busily and creatively at work designing and performing experiments. Many of them will proudly display their work at our School Science Fair. It continues to be a big event with a high degree of community involvement from parents and other scientists. We are proud of our high rate of student participation!
If you have a science background and want to share in the excitement of doing and talking science with young people, we want you! Judges visit individual projects and engage the students in conversation about their work, giving each participant the benefit of a supportive, enthusiastic, and thoughtful audience for their learning. The judges then help select Science Fair winners, who will have the option of going on to the Regional Science Fair or another event depending on their type of project.
If you are able to participate, please contact Nathalie Brunet: nathaliebrunet@nlesd.ca
Should you have a child attending MDJH, you will be asked to judge a different grade then your son/daughter.
If you know someone who would like to be involved and engage student learning, please forward this information.
Sincerely,
Nathalie Brunet

Late French Immersion (LFI) – Grade 6 Students Coming to MDJH in September 2016
Please see attached PDF document should you have or know of a student who plans to attend MDJH grade 7 LFI in September 2016. Should a student reside in our zone or attend one of our feeder schools and is interested in doing Late French Immersion (LFI) he/she will be given this document to fill out and return to their respective school. Once screened/recommended, it will be forwarded onto the District. The reason for the LFI application is to identify numbers for staffing purposes. Should a student apply after the deadline there is no guarantee that LFI will be an option. In the past we have had students at other schools outside our zone make application to do LFI at the particular Junior High in which they were zoned. Consequently, when they moved into our zone it was after the deadline and they were not registered to specifically do LFI at MDJH but rather at the Junior High in which they were previously zoned. Parents need to be cognizant of the process and the parameters involved with the Late French immersion program should a move in residence be forthcoming.
