Improv X-Games Games This Weekend!

The MDJH Improv Team has been working hard getting ready for the Canadian Improv Games. This weekend, the team struts its stuff at the X-Games, an exhibition improv showcase at the LSPU Hall. In preparation, guest trainer Steve Payette from Canadian Improv Games stopped by MDJH and ran a session for the team.

From the LSPU Hall website:

“The Canadian Improv Games is an event for High School and Jr. High students all across Canada! Teams perform completely improvised scenes inspired by suggestions from the audience to compete for the chance to represent Newfoundland at the national tournament in Ottawa. The X-Games are an exhibition round for students to test the waters and stretch their stage legs!”

Showtimes are:

  • December 2 – 1:00pm – 90 minutes
  • December 2 – 7:00pm – 150 minutes

Tickets are only available at the door.

Shop With A Cop and Pay It Forward!

Macdonald Drive Junior High is proud to partner with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on their Christmas fundraiser – Shop With A Cop and Pay It Forward!

Starting Wednesday, November 29th and continuing until end of day on Monday, December 4th, students can make a donation in their homeroom. With a minimum donation of $2.00, students will be given a ballot for their chance to win (please note: only one entry per student).

On Wednesday, December 6th, three students will be randomly selected from all the entries. Each winning student will receive $500.00 in Avalon Mall Gift Certificates to shop for their family!

All donations collected from the students of MDJH will be given to CBC Feed NL.

On Friday, December 8th, the winning students will be picked up from MDJH at 9:30 am. They will be taken to the Avalon Mall to Shop With a Cop from 10:00 am until noon. At noon, the students will head to the CBC building where they will present the donations from MDJH to CBC Feed NL. As a bonus, the gifts they purchased will be wrapped, so their families will be kept in suspense! The students will  then finish with lunch, and will be returned to MDJH in time for dismissal.

Please help us in supporting this great event, and you just might win!
