On behalf of CEO/Director of Education Tony Stack and community partners, we are sharing parent resources focused on the Black Lives Matter movement; anti-Black racism, and systemic racism within our society. The District will be sharing and promoting these resources in the coming days.
There are two key resources at this time:
- Black Lives Matter: A Conversation Guide for Families, available here: https://bit.ly/BLMConvoNL
- a companion one-page document that can be printed, saved or shared. It is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m533IMBQgWc2niBNz-KPfvhvLb8VWfL1/view?usp=sharing
This should be considered part of a concerted effort by the Provincial Government and the District to support multicultural education and diversity in our schools. At the District level, this is being led by Bonnie Woodland, Director of Programs – Multiculturalism (bonniewoodland@nlesd.ca). She is working with other staff members throughout the province, and our educational and community partners, to build on this solid foundation into the upcoming school year. The District plans to provide updated resource material for teachers in the fall.
