Track and Field Update

Congratulations to all of our runners who participated in last Saturday’s race at Bowring Park. Our students ran their best and represented our school well.

  • Special congratulations to our Grade 7 boys team whose combined score put them in first place.
  • We also need to celebrate Allison Duffett who placed first in her race with a time of 6 minutes and 56 seconds to complete the 1800 m course and earned herself a gold medal.
  • Aidan Douglas also earned a gold medal by placing first in his race with a time of 5 minutes and 48 seconds in the 1800 m race.
  • Matthew Earle was not far behind and placed third, earning himself a bronze medal in the same race.

We are proud of all of our students who rose to the challenge of completing this long distance race up and down the scenic hills of Bowring Park. Well done!!! We are still welcoming new runners to join our team. The next race is Saturday, September 24th and we have reason to feel very optimistic about this running season.

Way to go, Grizzlies!

MDJH Connections Night – Sept. 22

On Thursday, September 22nd we are hosting our first Connections Night from 7:00pm to 8:00pm; this is replacing the typical curriculum night that has traditionally been a part of the start of the school year. In changing our approach, we wanted to make the evening less formal and still allow for you to meet and greet with teachers and staff.

As you maneuver around the building, you will see all of our teachers in black legacy t-shirts for easy identification. MDJH is 50 years old and this year is our legacy year.

Please review your child’s PowerSchool schedule ahead of time so you will know which teachers you are looking to meet.

Please take note that this is not a curriculum night – there will be no discussion related to curriculum or children’s needs at this time with teachers. Our teachers are available through email if you wish to discuss anything personal. You will meet a magnificent team of teachers. We are very grateful and blessed to have the expertise that we do here at MDJH. Chat with them and get to know them – after all, learning is a community partnership at MDJH.

You are able to pick up a map upon entry when you see our admin table! We have highlighted the class numbers on the map for easy viewing.

Also, we are still looking for parent volunteers to help us out daily from 7:45am – 8:05am. If you are interested, contact Ms. Jennifer Riggs at jenniferriggs@nlesd.ca.
