Are you a grade 9 student at MDJH? Are you active and involved in the school community and/or the community at large? If so, this award might be for you!

Every year we award outstanding Grade 9 students with the Student Leadership Award. This is for students who:

The winning students will be presented with a certificate and have their names permanently inscribed on the school Student Leadership tableau in front of the main office.

In partnership with NLEats and the Airport Heights Food Co, MDJH is hosting a Year-End Community Food Drive from Tuesday, May 24, to Friday, May 27. Any non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the morning on the tables outside the office. All donations will go to local food banks in our community.

This is a great time to clear out your cupboards and donate to a wonderful cause!

Grade 9 Legacy Project

As the school year comes to a close, we are reaching out to our Grade 9 students to propose a legacy project for this year’s graduates. We are asking Grade 9 students to leave a memento of their time here by donating some pocket change, so we can purchase a picnic table to complement our outdoor classroom. It will have a plaque inscribed with “Donated by the 2022 Grade 9 Graduating Class.” Money will be collected by the homeroom teacher.

Masking Update – Monday, May 16th

OFFICE OF THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Chair: Goronwy Price

C.E.O./Director of Education: Anthony Stack

MEMO

To: Students and Families

From: Ed Walsh, Associate Director of Education (Programs and Human Resources)

Subject: Masking Policy; COVID-19 Protocols

Date: May 13, 2022

Dear Students and Families,

Further to our April 13, 2022 memo regarding masking and COVID-19 protocols, please be advised that, in consultation with Public Health, the District has determined that current masking protocols in schools and on school buses will remain in effect until May 20, 2022.

Commencing Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the masking protocol will become family choice. However, masking remains highly recommended for students and staff.

By continuing to strongly encourage masking, it is our hope that it will continue to reduce the transition of germs and viruses within the school environment and help us preserve valuable instructional time and extracurricular activities as we near the end of the school year.

To that end, we encourage you to continue with the following:

● Individual hand washing and sanitation; and,

● Ensure individuals utilize the daily school screening questionnaire and remain home when unwell.

Thank you for your continued attention to these matters.
