Family Literacy Day is on January 27th, and you can join in by participating in activities that promote reading and learning as family activities. This special day communicates the important message to children and parents in our community that the reading and learning activities we engage in as a family contribute to the development of good communication skills.
In honour of Family Literacy Day, the Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council Inc. (NLLLC) is planning a ReadFor15 Challenge for every community across Newfoundland and Labrador. For this challenge we ask that whoever reads for 15 minutes or more, between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM, during Family Literacy Day to let us know through our Facebook or Twitter. At the end of the day the NLLLC will tally up the numbers to find out exactly which community is the best well-read community. For more information, click here!
